On Monday night, Nov. 20, the Rye City School District received a bomb threat to its buildings that was sent over email, the Rye Police Department announced.
Although the threat was not thought to be credible, all five of the district's schools and the Central Administration Building were searched into the early morning on Tuesday, Nov. 21 with help from the Westchester County Police Bomb Squad, police said.
No threats were found inside the five schools and the administration building, which will all have an increased police presence on Tuesday.
"We want to extend our thanks to the Westchester County Police Bomb Squad and RCSD Administration for assisting us through the night to inspect our schools so students and teachers could come to school safely and on time today," the department said in a social media post.
The incident occurred just after schools in Pelham were forced to evacuate on Monday afternoon after a teacher also received a bomb threat over email. No threats were found inside the schools that were threatened, district officials said.
